The Evangelical-Lutheran Community was founded in Grodno in 1779 by the German Lutherans who were invited to establish royal manufactories in the city. After a short time the Community received a 3-storied building of the tavern for craftsmen to pray in.

Eventually, the tavern was rebuilt as a church & nearby there was allotted a land plot for the first lutheran cemetery in Grodno.

In 1843 the building was reconstructed & there was built a rectory with classrooms. Then a bell tower with a clock typical for Protestantism was added.

The Kirkha received its modern look in the beginning of the XX century, as it was joined with the rectory & a new rectory with a Lutheran school was built. It is interesting that everything was built at the expenses of the Community which consisted at that time of 200 families.

The management of the Polish Bus Communication Association in Suvalki is planning to start regular bus service between Grodno and Avgustov.
